Well, I totally missed last week’s overview, but I was in Kentucky and fighting some nasty virus that felt pretty similar to strep.
1. Louisville was pretty neat. I didn’t get to fully embrace the traveling experience, but I had a great work friend who came along to learn about rebuilding markets. Lots of talk about data-driven results and what it takes to transform communities. I ordered a waffle chicken sandwich and lived on coffee pretty much the whole trip.
2. Katelyn had her beautiful wedding on Saturday! The ceremony was in Pella and the reception was in Des Moines. So we had a blast as my family was there, old friends and current friends. I sometimes bust out my dance moves, but Saturday, I took it to a level I’m not sure I’ll ever reach again. Most of it was due to Alex’s enthusiasm. Woman, you awesome.
3. This is me being my normal self, but someone at the wedding was all, Emily, I totally forgot about you! What’s going on with you? And while I honestly never think about him, I was like am I a forgettable person? Although I don’t think it’s about that at all, it made me wonder what sort of feelings I left people with. I don’t often remember a lot of the details on how I spent my time with people in high school, but I remember how people made me feel. And then I read this quote the other day and smiled because it’s so true.
“One day, you’ll just be a memory to some people. Do your best to be a good one.” – Unknown
4. So it was Memorial Day and I spent hours on end at Home Depot and planting flowers at Tom’s place. I would like you to view the success of individualized plantings. One of those will be a pumpkin someday. Hopefully.
5. My little sweetie…
