I don’t need much to prepare myself in the a.m., but these are a few of the staples.
1. Coffee. I purchased my French Press from World Market over a year ago and she still works her magic for me almost every morning. The first thing I do every single morning is fill my electric tea kettle with water and let the joy of steam fill my kitchen. I’m not a complete snob about coffee, but I have my three go-tos: Kickapoo from Gateway Market, Ethiopia from Zanzibars, or Pike from Starbucks (or wherever it’s available).
I’m leaning towards purchasing a Chemex in the future, but am pretty pleased with the Press for the time being.
2. I am pretty OCD about washing my face, so I have my two standard products I use from LUSH in the mornings. Ultrabland is a thicker cleanser, but leaves my skin feeling clean & soft. 9 to 5 leaves my face with a glow & also feels hydrated. I follow up with a little colour supplement and get back to the kitchen for my caffeine addiction.
3. I’m a pretty big morning person, so I typically set my alarm between 5:00-5:30 a.m. Mind you, I get at least seven hours of sleep. And if I don’t, then I don’t get up that early because being fully rested is one of my biggest priorities. When I’m having one of those mornings where I can lounge for a bit, you will almost always find me plopped on the couch, laptop on my lap (how fitting), Tumblr open. I loooove skimming through Tumblr. It’s almost an addiction one might conclude. I find quotes, dreamy homes, cute outfits, blah blah blah. I don’t use it as a blogging space, but of course I have my own page filled with pictures or things that I adore.
4. Similar to face washing, I can’t leave my house without spraying down my counters. It’s something I inherited from my dad. 100%. I like to leave my apartment in pretty good shape so I have less to deal with when I get home in the evenings. Here is my favorite spray, mostly because of the smell. Oh, Caldrea. You can find this at Target.
I would like to see myself taking more time to go to yoga, go on walks, do CrossFit, but my brain is always like no girl, you embrace your quiet mornings. So here I am, coffee in hand, pumpkin bread in my belly & my Spotify playlist filling my apartment with music.
